Students of of Ibrahim Badamasi Babngida University, Lapai have been enjoined to avail themselves of every opportunity of being the desired change required in the country by embibing wholly, the entrepreneurial skills capable of making them completely self reliance.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare made the call when declaring opened a two-day workshop organised by the University’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) with the theme, “Entrepreneurship Career-Choice Counselling and Orientation”.
Professor Maiturare pointed out the fact that IBB University, Lapai remains ahead of others in the promotion of entrepreneurial activities and appealed to graduates of the institution wherever they are to maintain the status-quo for others to emulate.
He expressed the hope that the students would do the University proud by being employers of labour and not job seekers.
In a welcome address, the Director of the Centre, Dr. M. A. Mawoli appreciated the University Management for the workshop, and disclosed that the mandate was to facilitate entrepreneurship education, research and community service through such programme.
He said papers presented during the workshop would answer so many question about entrepreneurial skill and why undergraduates needed attitudinal change towards entrepreneurship.
Paper were presented on, “Entrepreneurship Development Programme in IBBUL” by Dr. M.A Mawoli; “Counselling Fresh Students on the Need for Entrepreneurship Skills in Contemporary Nigeria”, by Professor Frank Carew; “Attitude Change and Students’Attitude to Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition”, by Dr. John Jiya;” Nature and Characteristcs of Entrepreneurship in Nigeria”, by Professor George Eweniyi; and, ” Counselling Students on the Factors to Consider in Choosing Entrepreneurship Career” , by Professor (Mrs) R.O Bukoye.
Highlight of the opening ceremony was a drama presentation by IBBU Drama Group, Entrepreneurship comedy by Big-Mouth, and Entrepreneurship Story by an IBBU graduate.
