The Governing Council of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai at its 51st Regular meeting of Tuesday, 24th August, 2021 has ratified the appointment of Professor Hassan Ibrahim of Accounting Department of the Institution as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
His confirmation followed the recommendation of the University Senate at its 89th Regular meeting, held on Thursday, 29th July, 2021.
Professor Hassan Ibrahim is an indigene of Bida Local Government Area of Niger State. He holds B.Sc Degree in Accounting, M.Sc Accounting and Finance and Ph.D Accounting and Finance from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in the year 1999, 2006 and 2011 respectively.
Professor Hassan started his academic career as a Graduate Assistant with the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in June 2002 and rose through the ranks and was eventually elevated to the position of a Senior Lecturer.
He joined the services of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2015 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Accounting and Finance with effect from 1st October 2018 by the Council of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Professor Hassan Ibrahim was HOD, Accounting Department, Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2015 to 2017, Deputy Dean, from 2016 to 2017 and Dean, Faculty of Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2017 to June 2019 before transferred his services to IBB University, Lapai.
He was until his new appointment the Head of Department, Accounting Department, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai and Acting Director, IBBU Consult and Services Limited.
The Don served at various committees in the University system, ranging from Departmental Examination Officer, Appointment and Promotion Committee, Budget Monitoring Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Staff Adviser, Coordinator of Programmes, Seminar Coordinator, Editorial Board Membership, Membership of Senate, Headship of Department, Dean of Faculty. He also served as Staff Adviser to different clubs and societies.
Professor Ibrahim has over 80 academic publications to his credit. He has presented papers at conferences, seminars and workshops both at national and international levels. He has supervised and graduated more than twenty (20) PhD students, forty (40) M.Sc Students and seventy (70) Post Graduate Diploma Students.
This man-of-letters is a member of many professional bodies such as, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Nigeria Accounting Association (NAA), Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA).
He has served as external examiner/external assessor to the rank of Reader/Professor and Visiting scholar to many Universities, including Bayero University Kano (BUK), Federal University Otueke, Spring University-Benin, Bauchi State University, Kogi State University, Kaduna State University, Baze University Abuja, to mention, but a few.
Professor Hassan Ibrahim enjoys reading and travelling. He is happily married and blessed with children.
The scholar is a disciplinarian, an astute researcher, skillful in the use of statistical packages and an administrator per excellence.
As the Professor of Accounting and Finance joins the progressive team of current Management in the University under the leadership of Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, he will also be expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in actualising the world-class vision of one of the fastest growing State Universities in the country – IBB University, Lapai.
