The Etsu Lapai, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Engr.) Umaru Bago Tafida III has turbaned  Professor Nuhu George Obaje as Dan Kimiyan Lapai and also confered on the Vice Chancellor the title of Dan Basiran Lapai.
 
 
The turbaning ceremony which witnessed the influx of friends, well wishers and families members from far and near was beautifully performed with a lot of fun at the Etsu’s Palace.
 
In a remark, His Royal Highness, Etsu Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida lll congratulated Professor Obaje for making Lapai community popular amongst other communities with his good research work in exploring  mineral resources, saying his recent exploration of crude oil in the Bida basin has brought laurel and accolades to Lapai Emirate.
 
He said the Emirate therefore, deemed it appropriate to honour Professor Obaje with a befitting traditional title which is the ‘Dan Kimiyan Lapai’.
 
The Royal Father charged other researchers and Professors to conduct high impact research that would bring glories to IBB University and its host community.
 
Appreciating His Royal Highness, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu  applauded Lapai Emirate Council for blessing IBB University with the traditional title of Dan Kimiyan Lapai, adding that it was a well deserved title given to the right person which showed that the contributions of Professor Obaje to the development of the University is recognized by the Emirate.
 
Professor  Adamu who is the Wakilin Makarantan Mai Sudan and newly confered Dan Basiran Lapai appreciated the Etsu Lapai for all the support he has been giving to the University.
 
Also speaking, the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare  extended his profound appreciation to the Etsu Lapai for honouring an Eminent Scholar, and  the  University community.
 
Professor Maiturare who is also the Dan Masanin Birnin Maza, Lapai explained that His Royal Highness and Lapai Emirate are making  history, stressing that a honour done to a staff by the Emirate is an indication of an outstanding performance.
 
He also maintained that the gesture was a model worthy of emulation by other emirates, noting that the National Universities Commission (NUC) attaches importance to University/ Host  Community relations before it grants license for establishing any University, as the University must show evidence that the traditional rulers of that community support its establishment.
 
Professor Maiturare also appreciated His Royal Highness Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida lll for the honour he has done to Professor Obaje and  his predecessor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, and prayed for the good relationship to continue.
 
Also in his remarks, His Royal Highness the Atta of Igala who was represented by Alhaji Akwu Obaje Ejeh Ofu, the Chairman of Ofu Local Government Traditional Council in Kogi State expressed  his appreciation to the Etsu Lapai for honoring the son of Igala with the traditional title of Dan Kimiyan Lapai, saying the gesture has shown that the long good relations between Lapai Emirate and the Igala kingdom was still intact.
 
He applauded the Emirate for seeing and appreciating the good works of Professor Obaje and honour him with a traditional title.
 
The Atta Igala prayed to God to guide Professor Obaje with more knowledge and wisdom to continue to do more for the University and its host community.
