The Governing Council of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has awarded scholarship to some indigent students of the Institution.
 
The first phase of the scholarship which commences operation from 2021/2022 Academic session is tagged, ‘Governing Council Scholarship Scheme’ is for the sum of One Million Naira for the first batch of beneficiaries.
 
Presenting the awards to the successful students at the last 56th Regular Council meeting, held in the Senate Chamber, the Council Chairman, Major General Idris Garba (Rtd), represented by Professor Muhammad Bashar Nuhu enjoined the beneficiaries to justify the purpose for which the scholarship scheme was established by studying hard to make excellent results in their courses.
 
He pointed out that a First Class degree would not be too bad as a justification of the scholarship award.
 
The Council Chairman who congratulated the beneficiaries for being the first batch of the scheme; added that several applications were received but only few were found suitably qualified for the scholarship.
 
He said that from the total number of application issued, only Fifty-five filled and returned the forms; stressing that after the screening, only ten of them were found to be qualified.
 
General Garba urged them to count themselves lucky for being the first batch to be so considered by the Council’s Scholarship Scheme.
 
He further charged them not to engage in any negative behaviour that could soil their names and bring the name of the University to disrepute.
