The Directorate of Quality Assurance, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, University, Lapai has organised a Quality Assurance Implementation Workshop for line management staff of the Institution to equip them with basic competences for performance of their statutory leadership responsibilities.

Declaring the workshop open at the ICT Complex of the University, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare underscored the importance of the workshop to enthroning the culture of academic excellence and best practices in the administrative procedures of the University.

He stated that the quality assurance of the University was aimed at establishing a quality system that would enhance internal efficiency in all the operations of the Institution in order to meet the needs of the students and other stakeholders.

Professor Maiturare pointed out that the goal of institutionalising quality assurance culture in the University was in line with the requirements of National Universities Commission (NUC) for all universities in the country to establish Internal Quality Assurance systems so as to guide generic processes and standards, policies and procedures for good practices in the University system.

He urged the participants to pay keen attention to presentations that would be made during the workshop in order to make the implementation of quality assurance procedures a huge success in the University.

The Vice-chancellor applauded the efforts by the Directorate of Quality Assurance to organise the workshop and assured of continued support.

Earlier, the Director, Quality Assurance of the University, Professor Muhammad Tajordeen Mustapha stated that the basic component of quality assurance system is to ensure capacity development for effective management practices for improved internal efficiency in the University.

He said that the workshop was carefully concieved to and acquaint the participants with better quality assurance practices towards enhancing academic leadership for excellence and overall institutional efficiency.

Professor Mustapha appreciated the overwhelming support and cooperation accorded the Directorate by the Management at ensuring the establishment and implementation of quality assurance in IBB University.

He disclosed that Implementation of quality assurance practices would undoubtedly facilitate the realisation of vision of the University to be an Excellent Centre of learning in the country.

Highlights of the workshop were presentations by the Vice-chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, the Director, Quality Assurance, Professor Muhammad Tajordeen Mustapha, Director, FEMBO Consulting, Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim Lemu and Bursar of the University, Mallam Abdul Garba on critical topics.

Four publications by the Quality Assurance Directorate on Quality Assurance Policy Framework, Quality Assurance Management System, Quality Assurance Framework of Educational Processes as well as Quality Assurance Instruments and Performance Indicators for Monitoring and Evaluation of Institutional Processes were formally presented for use by the Vice-chancellor.
