IBBUL PERIMETER FENCING PROJECT TAKES-OFF

The construction of a multi-million naira perimeter fencing of entire IBB University, Lapai main campus has taken-off with a ground-breaking ceremony of the project performed by the Council Chairman, and assisted by the Vice Chancellor.

The project which is being financed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) formally took- off with the signing of site possession documents between the University and the Contractors handling the project.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santuraki, represented by one of the Council members, Engr. Inuwa Kuta Musa, underscored the importance of the project to the University and assured that every necessary cooperation would be given to the Contractors till the successful completion of the project.

The Council Chairman further appreciated the kind gesture by the NNPC and pointed out that this landmark project would be guarded jealously by the University.

Earlier in his speech at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare said that the ground-breaking ceremony of the project was another landmark events in the history of the University.

He stated that but for the timely intervention of NNPC, the project, which will greatly enhance security of life and property in the campus, could have taken the University many years to actualise.

He appreciated the Management of NNPC for engaging in strategic partnerships with the University and assured of continued impactful relationship that would accelerate the development of Oil and Gas in the Country and the State in particular.

Professor Maiturare also thanked the authorities of NNPC for approving a covetous Professorial Chair grant worth several millions of naira on basinal studies, which is the first of such award in the Country.

The Vice-chancellor further disclosed that the University was also enjoying robust partnership with the NNPC on inland basinal research prospectivities in both Bida and Sokoto basins, and commended the confidence in the University for critical research initiatives.

Also, in his remarks at the occasion, Project Coordinator of NNPC, Mallam Tahir Ahmed said that the Corporation identified IBB University, Lapai for its corporate social responsibilities project.

He said the project is solely financed by NNPC but would be supervised by IBB University and was expected to be completed in twelve months.

Speaking on behalf of other contractors of the project, the Technical Officer, Messrs Buildsworth, Limited, Mallam Mustapha Abdulrazaq assured of completing the project according to the schedule and terms of agreement.

He thanked NNPC and IBB University for the opportunity to undertake the project.
