The Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu has expressed hope that the University would tap from other areas of mutual interest to further strengthen the existing relationship with Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
He made this known when the Management team of the Industrial Training Fund, led by the Area Manager, Hajiya Halimah Abdullahi Rabo visited the University.
Professor Adamu explained that the University had benefited from the funds interms of manpower, training of staff and Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme( SIWES).
Professor Adamu affirmed that the University and Industrial Training Fund were partners in progress, assuring that the University was ever ready to collaborate with the Fund.
The Vice Chancellor hinted that the University is growing, adding the National University’s Commission has approved about four undergraduate and twenty three post graduate programs which will make it easy for graduates to join the University to study postgraduate programs.
Contributing, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Associate Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko restated that the Fund is in the right place, promising that it will not regret its partnership with the University.
Early the Area Manager of the Fund, Minna Area Office,Hajiya Halima Abdullahi Rabo explained that the visit is part of the fund’s outreach aimed at boosting relationship with its clients.
Hajiya Rabo added that it is expected of a leader to have some basic skills to lead, stressing that programs such as Leadership and Team Building, Communication and Organization Behavior, as well as Supportive Supervision and Effective Coaching will benefit top senior Lecturers of the University.
She noted that in driving the Federal Government’s effort to develop agricultural value chain for job and wealth creation in order to ensure food security,the ITF Minna Area Office has concluded plans to use the land behind its office complex to establish demonstration farms which will be used to train extension workers and unemployed youths in Niger State.
The Area Manager however, solicit for the support from the Vice Chancellor’s wealth of experience and assistance of resources persons from the University to help establish a fish farm and green house.
Hajiya Halima Rabo commended the Vice Chancellor for his numerous strides in the area of capacity development, and approving for the ITF Minna Area Office the training of the University securitymen, stating that the efforts are in tandem with the Fund’s mandate as well as improving the performance and productivity of the workforce.
In a closing remarks, the Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi the University Management led by Professor Abu Kasim Adamu is reviving and resuscitating the relationship between e University and the Fund.
He applauded the Fund for meeting up with standards, assuring that the University would swing into action to cement the relationship.
Highlight of the visit was exchange of gifts and souvenirs by the two parties.
