The Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmad Garba Attahiru ll has assured the Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai of the Emirate’s full support in the commencement of academic activities at the School of Preliminary Studies, Tegina.
The Emir gave the assurance when members of the University Management, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu paid him a visit in his palace.
He called on the University Management to always consider indigenes of the area in terms of admissions, especially now that Medical courses are about to commence.
Alhaji Ahmad Garba Attahiru ll urged the University to also consider graduates from the Schools of Midwifery, Nursing and Health Technology, adding that health matters should not be handled with levity.
The Emir further assured the University Management of the Emirate’s assistance in mobilising candidates for admission, adding that once the process was completed, the issues of insecurity would be a thing of the past.
Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu said the University Management was in the palace to commiserate with the Emir over the death of his predecessor and to also congratulate him on his appointment.
He pointed out that the University Management was ready to commence academic activities at the School of Preliminary Studies, Tegina for the 2020/2021 session, which were supposed to have commenced in the 2019/2020 but interrupted due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Professor Adamu appealed to the Emir and major stakeholders of the emirate to come to the aid of the University in mobilising candidates for admission into the school.
The Vice Chancellor also called on the stakeholders to also mobilise for the commencement of medical courses and other new courses at the main campus.
On the visit with the the Vice Chancellor were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Associate Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko; Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi; University Bursar and Librarian, Malam Abdul Garba and Dr. Abubakar N. Usman respectively.
Others are, Director, Academic Planning, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu Bello; Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Bashir Sarkin Daji; Coordinator, School of Preliminary Studies, Tegina, Dr. Aminu Aliyu Wushishi; Deputy Registrars in charge of Information, Management and Council Affair, Alhaji Baba Akote and Malam Babangida Bala Jatau.
Highlight of the visit was presentation of the University’s 2021 Calendar to the Emir and a stop over at the School of Preliminary Studies, Tegina.
