The Vice Chancelor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu has given a thumb up to the University security personnel for high performance and urged them maintain the tempo.
He made this known when addressing a detachment of the University security personnel at a combined passing out ceremony of the in-house organised industrial fire safety/first aid and unarmed combat/self defence course one, 2022 held at the University sports field.
Professor Adamu who commended the Chief Security Officer of the University, also expressed delight with the numerous training activities aimed at improving their productivity, and assured of his support at all times.
He congratulated the participants and assured that training and retraining of staff which is one of the focal points of his administration would continue unabated.
The Vice Chancelor advised the Chief Security and the Fire Officers to always ensure that safety, in all ramafication, remain their watchword on the campus.
Earlier in his address, the Chief Security Officer, Major Abdukhadir Yakubu Yerima (Rtd) appreciated the University Management for the full support received, which make the programme successful.
He said the training programme was aimed at improving the productivity of the security men of the Division, stressing that the second batch would soon commence to give all personnel the opportunity to benefit.
Major Yerima maintained that the course was designed in line with the Vice Chancelor’s directive that the Division should ensure constant training of its personnel.
The Chief Security Officer used the opportunity to announce the Vice Chancelor’s position as the Patron the Unarmed Combat/Self defence Club of the University which he said is in line with the culture of self defence training.
He requested to apply to the Office of Dean of Student Affairs for approval to get more members registered with the Club for a wider reach.
Highlights of the event included the decoration of the Vice Chancelor with the regalia of the Patron, demonstration by self defence and demonstration by industrial fire safety classes which included; House on fire, pressure test and first aid.
