The Management of the University received in audience a team from the Directorate of Students Support Services of National Universities Commission (NUC) for the assessment and evaluation of quality facilities and support services made available in the Institution to enhance learning.

Receiving the team, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Abu-Kasim Adamu welcomed the team from NUC to the University and assured members of unwavering cooperation of the Management towards the success of the exercise.

He reiterated the University Management’s readiness to improve on any observation made by the team so as to make IBB University one of the most subscribed universities in the country.

Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman of the team, Professor Tanimu Abubakar Adamu disclosed that evaluation of facilities and support services for Students is another component of assessment by NUC towards ensuring parity between academic standard and support services of the University besides the normal accreditation exercise.

He pointed out that the essence of the exercise was to also ensure provision of quality facilities and support services for students of every Nigerian University so as to make learning environment more condusive.

Professor Adamu stated that the scope of exercise include Counseling and Human Development Centre Services, Health Services, Student Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Services, Sports and Academic Planning.

Other areas he said the exercise would cover are Examination administration, support to indigent and brilliant students, Registry as well as Transportation and Communication, Information and Technology Services.

Other members of the team include Dr. Musa Zamuna, Mrs Joy Obaje and Mrs Fatima Yahaya who is the Secretary of the Team.

In another development, the Management of the University received a team of Internal Auditors from the Office of Auditor-General of the Federation who were in the Institution to examine the utilisation of funds released under the NEEDS Assessment intervention projects of the Federal Government.

The Vice-chancellor represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Abu-Kasim Adamu assured the team of the Management’s full support in order to ensure that the exercise record huge success that could attract further funds for quality projects in the University.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the team, Mrs Fatima Abdulsalam stated that the exercise was aimed at evaluating how funds released to the University under the NEEDS Assessment intervention projects of Federal Government were effectively applied and efficiently utilised.

She assured the Management that any observation made would further improve the services of the University and would also assist her in accessing more funds from the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education.
