The National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), has offered to assist Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai with its functional laboratories to enable the Institution carry out its Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees projects successfully.

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NABDA, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha made this known when he received in audience, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Associate Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko.

The NABDA Director General, represented by the Director, Genetics Genomics and Bioinformatics, Professor Oyekanmi Nash said the Agency was willing to work with the University for the furtherance of Biotechnology before getting into collaboration, and later partnership.

He congratulated the University for its recent accreditation of Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC).

He advised the University to start from curriculum development, and that NABDA was ready to help in that aspect in order to help position and equip the Institution for success in their new accreditation.

Earlier, in his speech, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Associate Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko expressed the willingness of the University to collaborate with the Agency in the area of Biotechnology for the benefit of the University as well as to help dispel wrong notions about GMOs in the country.

On the visit were the Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi and other top members of the University Management team.
