INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION: IBBUL WOMEN URGED TO STRIVE MORE

The Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu has called on women, especially those in the Institution, to continue to struggle for more strides.

The Vice Chancellor made the call while declaring open the International Women’s Day Celebration of the University.

He affirmed that women are doing great in all spheres of life, noting that women compliments the efforts of men.

Earlier, the Director, Center for Gender Affairs, Professor Naomi John Dadi-Mahmud explained that every Eight of March is set aside globally to mark World International Women’s Day, stressing that this year, the University decided to celebrate the day for the first time.

Professor Dadi-Mahmud stressed that the theme of the this year “Inspire Inclusion “ is well chosen to enable all women to be inclusive in all aspects of life.

In their Separate Goodwill Messages, representative of Iya Loja General of Nigeria, Dr. Mujidat Folashade Tinubu and Professor Elele Ugu calls for more inclusion of women in all aspect of life, urging women to be willing and ready to be included in all aspect.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Farid Center, Hajiya Amina Jummai Gimba who spoke on the topic, “The Disabled Needs a Friend“, explained that women are everything in the community.

According to her, there is discrimination between men and women as same goes to people with special needs, stressing the need to be more empathetic and support them to be able to live like normal people.

Hajiya Amina Gimba appealed to the University Management to provide a space for people with special needs as well as freedom of choice.

In her closing remarks, the Deputy Director, Center for Gender Affairs, Dr. Balaraba Abubakar Sule reaffirmed that the International Women’s Day is indeed significant and appreciated University Management and IBBUL women for their relentless efforts towards the advancement and promotion of women.
