Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sanskaram University, Jhajjar, Haryana, India, to strengthen academic collaboration, staff and student exchange, and research development across key disciplines.
Speaking at the 101st Regular Senate Meeting of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Hadi Sulaiman, applauded Dr. Musa Emmanuel Umaru for initiating the partnership that culminated in the MoU with Sanskaram University.
He described the gesture as a rare demonstration of dedication and selfless service to the growth of IBBUL.
In recognition of the collaboration, Professor Sulaiman was decorated with the regalia and muffler of Sanskaram University by Dr. Emmanuel Umaru on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chander Prakash. He noted that the agreement offered IBBUL immense benefits, particularly in staff development, student exchange, and collaborative research, while urging other members of the University community to emulate Dr. Umaru’s initiative.
In his remarks the Head of the Department of Sociology, Dr. Musa Emmanuel Umaru, explained that his visit to India initially centered on a community-based academic engagement. However, recognizing the vast potential for collaboration, he initiated discussions with Sanskaram University, which culminated in the signing of the MoU on behalf of IBBUL.
He disclosed that the partnership will open new frontiers in forensic criminology, medical education, law, and technology-driven approaches to addressing security challenges.
According to him, Sanskaram University’s state-of-the-art facilities and expertise will complement IBBUL’s strengths, creating a robust platform for impactful research and academic innovation.
Dr. Umaru added that both institutions have already constituted committees to fast-track implementation of the agreement.
He assured that the collaboration would begin to yield results soon, through joint projects, exchange visits, and shared resources that would benefit both universities, Niger State, and Nigeria at large.
