Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai was thrown into joyous mood as Professor Mohammed Hadi Suleiman officially assumed office as substantive Vice Chancellor.
The handover ceremony, which was attended by key stakeholders, was marked by expressions of gratitude, prayers, and collective commitment to the institution’s progress.
Speaking shortly after taking over the mantle of leadership, the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Suleiman expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Emir of Lapai, His Royal Highness, Engr. Umaru Bago III.
He acknowledged the overwhelming reception extended to him, describing IBBUL as “home” and stressing the importance of collaboration in achieving institutional success.
He highlighted the University’s strong academic foundation, noting the presence of accomplished Professors and an experienced Management team.
Professor Suleiman called for collective efforts to elevate IBBUL’s ranking, drawing inspiration from Institutions like Covenant University and Ahmadu Bello University.
He emphasized that leadership was a divine trial, urging prayers over congratulations. He encouraged students and staff to contribute ideas for the University’s progress and assured them of an open-door policy for constructive engagement.
He sought for divine guidance for his tenure and prayed for the well-being of all members of the University community.
In a remark before the handing over, the outgone Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Hassan Ibrahim, expressed his joy at handing over leadership to a substantive Vice Chancellor.
He recalled his plea for extraordinary prayers for the University’s continuity and sustainability during the previous Senate meeting and expressed gratitude that Allah who had answered those prayers.
“Today is a great day for me as I exit the position of Acting Vice Chancellor. We prayed for the emergence of a leader who would take this University to greater heights, and Allah has answered our prayers. Our new Vice Chancellor comes with vast experience and expertise from a Federal university, and I am confident that with collective efforts, IBBUL will continue to grow.”
He urged staff, students, and stakeholders to support and pray for the new administration to ensure the institution’s steady progress.
Also in a closing remark, the Registrar, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki, welcomed the new Vice Chancellor and reflected on the journey leading to his appointment.
He expressed immense appreciation to Almighty Allah for making the occasion possible.
“We are confident that he will move this Institution to greater heights”, he stated.
“To our outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Hassan Ibrahim, we sincerely thank you for your dedication and leadership during your tenure. Your contributions to the growth of this institution have been laudable, and we appreciate your efforts in ensuring a seamless transition.
As we move forward, I encourage us to continue to work together in unity and harmony for the betterment of our university. Let us offer our prayers and support to the new Vice Chancellor as he embarks on this journey of leadership”, he concluded.
