SUG - IBBUL

The Student Union Government (SUG) at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) plays a pivotal role in fostering a harmonious relationship between the university’s administration and the student body. It serves as the official representative of the students, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met. The SUG is integral to maintaining a conducive learning environment and promoting the welfare of all students.

SUG ROLES AND OPERATION

1. Intermediary Between the University Management and the Students

Role:

  • The SUG acts as a crucial link between the university management and the students, ensuring effective communication and understanding between both parties.

Responsibilities:

  • Representation: The SUG represents the collective interests of the student body in discussions with the university management, ensuring that student concerns are voiced and addressed.
  • Communication: The SUG communicates important information from the university management to students and vice versa, ensuring transparency and clarity in all matters.
  • Conflict Resolution: The SUG plays a key role in mediating conflicts or misunderstandings between students and the university management, striving to find amicable solutions.

2. Welfare and Adequate Management of Students on School Facilities

Role:

  • The SUG is responsible for ensuring that the welfare of students is a top priority, particularly concerning the use and maintenance of school facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy: The SUG advocates for the provision and maintenance of essential facilities such as hostels, lecture halls, libraries, and recreational centers, ensuring they meet the needs of the students.
  • Feedback Collection: The SUG gathers feedback from students regarding the condition and usability of school facilities and communicates these concerns to the university management for prompt action.
  • Monitoring: The SUG monitors the proper use of school facilities by students, promoting a culture of respect and responsibility toward university property.

3. A Window of Discussion and Partnership with Students to Enhance Better Service Delivery

Role:

  • The SUG serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between the students and the university, aiming to enhance service delivery and the overall student experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Engagement: The SUG actively engages with students to understand their needs, concerns, and suggestions for improving services such as academic support, health services, and transportation.
  • Initiatives: The SUG works collaboratively with the university to develop initiatives and programs that address student needs and enhance their overall experience at the university.
  • Partnerships: The SUG fosters partnerships with student organizations, external bodies, and the university administration to bring about positive changes and improvements in service delivery.

4. A Union that Protects and Defends the Rights of Students in Accordance with the Provisions of the School Rules and Regulations

Role:

  • The SUG is committed to protecting and defending the rights of students, ensuring that these rights are respected and upheld within the framework of the university’s rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Rights Advocacy: The SUG advocates for the rights of students, ensuring that their academic and social rights are protected in line with the university’s policies.
  • Legal Support: The SUG provides support to students in cases of disciplinary actions, ensuring that due process is followed and that students have a fair representation.
  • Awareness: The SUG educates students about their rights and responsibilities, encouraging them to abide by the university’s rules while also standing up for their entitlements.
  • Policy Review: The SUG participates in the review and development of university policies that affect students, ensuring that their rights and interests are considered in decision-making processes.

CBT Rules

Students must ensure they have their ideal courses printed and conduct themselves in a respected manner once coming for CBT. Any student that fails to turn up for the EXAMINATION at the scheduled time will not be allowed into the Exam HALL.

Students are to dress smartly, conduct themselves in orderly manner and should come with the following items ONLY to the e-EXAM ’s Venue:
i. Current University ID Card (or) School fees Payment slip with clear picture (for only new student)
ii. Exam Card for current session
iii. Biro, pen or pencil
iv. A cbtified slip bearing your date of printing, and the resulting passwords of the course to be examined.

HANDBAG, CELL PHONE, FACE CAP, WRIST WATCH, SUN GLASSES are not allowed into the examination hall and any act of indiscipline will NOT be tolerated
