Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETfund) National Research Fund(NRF) winners from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai have presented preliminary findings with commendations from the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu for making Niger State proud with their high impact researches.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor Hassan Ibrahim, the Vice Chancellor gave the commendation while declaring open, a One Day NFR Workshop organized by the University Research and Development Centre held at the Senate Chamber.

Professor Adamu applauded the University researchers for making it proud for their consistency in winning grants for high impact research, adding that the major functions of universities are research, teaching and learning, and community service.

In their presentations, the Principal Researchers, Professor Dadi- Mamud Naomi John who presented her research paper on, “Exploring Participatory Self-Help Intervention for Elimination of Open Defecation in Rural and Urban Communities of Northern Nigeria”; Professor Musa Dickson Achimugu, presented his research paper on, “Molecular Epidemiology of Salmonella enterica Typhi and Their Antibiotic Resistance Pattern in North Central Nigeria”, and Dr. Yusuf Ishaq who also presented his research paper on, “Forensic Re-evaluation of Petroleum System and Reservoir Geophysics through the Development of GIS and Seismic Technologies,” applauded the University Management for the support and understanding towards research activities in the Institution, affirming that the research workshops organised by University gave them the opportunity to discuss and give progress reports on their research work with other senior colleagues who have conducted researches and to also guide them on how to utilized the first trench of funds released by TETFUND.

Also contributing, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, the University TETFUND Desk Officer, Mr. Godwin Ashituabe, the Director CASTER, Professor Alimi Folorunso Lawal and the Dean Faculty of Applied Sciences, Professor Abraham Onugba commended the researchers for the excellent work and also advised them to communicate to TETFUND for any variation in the purchase of equipment due to the unstable exchange rate.

They also advised the Principal Researchers to carry along all the members of the research team so as to have a smooth working relationship, saying that should anything happen to the Principal Researchers, the most senior colleague would be the one to take over the research work.

In a vote of thanks, the Registrar, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki appreciated both the University Management and the Researchers for making the Institution visible on the world map in terms of wonderful and result oriented research.

He applauded the Coordinating Director Research and Development, Professor Nuhu Obaje for impacting positively on the University Researchers.

He called on Professor Obaje to keep on the good mentorship, saying IBB University is leaving its peers lagging far behind.
